finally friday

This week has been a slow one again. Two days until our due date and still no sign of our little one. I’m so antsy and I can’t stop thinking about her and wondering when she will make her entrance. Sigh…

Anyways, I wanted to do another round up of all the fun internet things I saw this week because there was a lot that caught my eye.

+I’ve admired Michelle Armas’s work for a while and her latest paintings definitely don’t disappoint. Beauty.

+Rap That Won’t Corrupt Your Kid. Ha.

+Maybe I’m just a lush but I can’t wait until I can enjoy the occasional adult beverage again. This will be perfect for summer.

+Loved these tips for parenting tiny ones. Coincidentally, I think they would work well for an adult too.

+FOOD! I want to make it all. So many recipes, so little time.

Easy Chocolate Almond Butter Cups

Creamy Dill Cucumber Salad

Beer Can Chicken

Lemon Blueberry Muffins

+Such a great quote.

+Eyeing these pretty studs.

Happy Weekend!

the little things

In some ways our wedding feels like it was forever ago but it’s actually been less than a year. I’ve been wanting to share a few of my favorite details here (better late than never!) because I really enjoyed working on them. In particular I loved designing our programs and crossword puzzle menus. I’d like to be doing more of these types of projects and a big goal for me this year is to just do it – just throw myself into projects that explore that creative side that I know I’ve got.

When it came to the look and feel for our wedding, we didn’t have any lofty goals for elegance or pizzazz but we wanted to make the day fun and full of real love. I like to think that we managed to capture some of that sparkle through the little things. My skilled sister helped me with signage, my sis-in-law made a photo collage,  I designed our menu/crossword puzzles and programs and I painted our cake toppers (Sounders scarf and all).

The buffet menu and crossword was something we wanted to include as an ice breaker for our guests. It was fun coming up with the questions and really easy to use an online puzzle generator to create the grid. The rest of it came together in Illustrator.

Mmm looking at that menu makes me want to go back and relive the whole thing.

39 weeks and counting

Pardon the dirty mirror picture! Nesting hasn’t driven me so far as to deep clean our bathrooms and, lets be real, it’s probably not going to happen in the next week or so. Maybe I’m just not a “nester”?

I do however have baby girl’s room ready to go. I love spending time in that room and looking at all the tiny little clothes that will soon be covered in all sorts of spit up and diaper disasters. Even with all the horror stories that people like to share (yes, Grandma, I heard the one about the fountain burping) I can’t wait. Last night I had what I think were my first contractions so things are happening! I won’t actually be pregnant forever! By the way, I’m making a promise to myself now that I will not share horror stories – what good does that do for anyone?

Whenever you’re ready, baby girl, we’re here waiting for you. There are people who love you lining up to hold you already but they’ll have to take a number because Dad and I call first dibs on cuddle time.
